ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study effects of different harvest times and processing methods on the quality of Gardeniae Fructus.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>The content of asminoidin and the similarity of the fingerprint of Gardeniae Fructus were determined and applied for assessment of the quality.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>Gardeniae Fructus harvested in October with yellow-green appearance was the better time point for harvest. Drying in the sun and boiling in the water is the better processing method for Gardeniae Fructus.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Different harvest times and processing methods can affect the quality of Gardeniae Fructus.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To analyze the content of tanshinone IIA in Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae from different habitats are regularly altered and find out the deviation between the studies.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>The data of the content of tanshinone IIA in samples of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae from different areas and related information since 1997 was collected and statistically analyzed.</p><p><b>RESULT AND CONCLUSION</b>The content of tanshinone IIA in wild Salvia was generally higher than that in the cultivated Salvia, and the content in nearly half cultivated Salvia was less than 0.2%. There existed a big difference between the used statistical model, and the data related the content in samples from Sichuan was the most divisive. The coefficient of variation of wild Salvia was below the cultivated Salvia, and the cultivated Salvia from different areas showed different coefficients of variation. The content of tanshinone IIA was lower when samples were extracted using the heating reflux method.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the characteristics of soil microbial variation during Salvia miltiorrhiza crop rotation.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>the conventional cultivating microbial method was used to study the microbial number and communities structure and soil microbial biomass phosphorus (SMBP) was determined by chloroform vapor extraction method. The data was then analyzed by SPSS software.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>With the increase of the crop rotation years, the numbers of bacteria and actinomycetes in soil also, but the fungi and SMBP decreased.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Microbial mechanism of crop rotation of the planting S. miltiorrhiza is the regulation of microbial number and bacteria physiological communities, the process rebuilds the soil ecological system balance. Microbial communities in soil need at lest 2 years to get to restore, after planting S. miltiorrhiza, which consisting with traditional planting experience.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the GC fingerprint of fatty acids in peach seed,and provide evidences for quality assessment on peach seed.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>Capillary gas chromatography was applied in analysis of fatty acids in peach seed, and the distinctive information was confirmed by GC-MS with hierarchical cluster and species similarity analysis.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>The GC fingerprint containing distinctive information was obtained after investigation of peach seeds from 34 varieties and origins.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>With Good reproducibility, fingerprints established for peach seeds provided an effective method for quality control.</p>

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the effects of environmental factors (soil,climate,etc.) on the quality of Radix Polygalae.METHODS:The contents of polygalic acid were determined by HPLC.Climate factors including altitude,average annual temperature,average temperature of July,annual precipitation,annual sunshine hours and non-frost days were collected through on-site inspection or from the local meteorological data. Water content,pH and nutritional elements of the soils were determined by routine method,and the reletionship between the content of polygalic acid and the factors were analyzed.RESULTS:There was linear relationship between the content of polygalic acid and climate factors such as average temperature of July,annual precipitation,annual sunshine hours and non-frost days.There was also linear relationship between polygalic acid and soil factors such as total nitrogen,total phosphor,available phosphor,available kalium,organic matters and water content. CONCLUSION:The main climate factors that affect polygalic acid content were annual sunshine hours and non-frost days,while the main soil factors affecting the content of polygalic acid were the content of available phosphor and soil water content.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the influence of Chinese herbs for inner-warming on the bioavailability of paeoniflorin (PF) and its mechanism.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Chinese herbs (pepper fruit, evodia fruit, cassia bark, fennel fruit and prickly-ash peel) were separately used in combination with PF for gastrogavage to mice. Reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography was used to determine the plasma concentration of PF in mice after medication. The bioavailability of PF was calculated and compared, taking single use of red peony root for control.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The pharmacokinetics of PF in mice was conformed to the one-compartment model, as combined use with Chinese herbs for inner-warming, the relative bioavailability of PF was 137.22% for pepper fruit, 123.62% for evodia fruit, 108.39% for cassia bark, 226.02% for fennel fruit and 116.73% for prickly-ash peel, there were difference of Cmax and AUC(0-infinity) in comparison of these data with the control group (P < 0.05), but with no difference of tmax (P > 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The Chinese herbs used in this experiment in combination with red peony root could enhance the bioavailability of PF, which illustrated the scientific meaning of the recipe combination of Chinese herbs for activating blood circulation and inner-warming viewing from pharmacodynamics.</p>

ABSTRACT

Object To establish an HPLC method for the determination of dehydroxypresenegenin for the quality control of Polygalae tenuifolia Willd. Methods Dehydroxypresenegenin was separated by ODS column (125 mm ? 4 mm, 5 ?m) with a mobile phase of methanol 0 05% phosphoric acid (74∶26) and detected at a wavelength of 210 nm. Results The calibration curve was linear in the range of 0 585~11 7 ?g,with a correlation coefficient of 0 999 99 . The average recovery was 99 21% (n=5), and RSD=0 25% (n=5). Conclusion The method is simple and accurate, with good repeatability and can be used for the quality control of Polygalae tenuifolia Willd and compound preparations of Radix Polygalae.

ABSTRACT

Objective To establish an analytical method for determination of ferulic acid inDanggui HujiaoRadix Angelicae Sinensis and Fructus Piperis]) Decoction in mouse plasma.Methods HPLC method was used.The conditions of chromatography: Kromasil C 18250 mm?4.6 mm, 7 ?m) was used with a mobile phase of CH3OH-H2O-CH3COOH (36.4∶63∶0.6).Flow rate was 1.0 mL/min.The detecting wavelength was 322 nm.External standard method was quantitative analysis method.Results The ferulic acid could be totally separated from other ingredients in plasma.The linear range was 1.88—188.00 ng/?L (r=0.999), the lowest detectability was 0.47 ng/?L, and the average recovery was 94.85%.Conclusion This method provides an accurate and sensitive way in detecting blood concentration of ferulic acid and studying in pharmacokinetics.

ABSTRACT

Objective An HPLC method was established for determination of paeoniflorin in plasma after ig compound decoction of Radix Paeoniae Rubra with Fructus Piperis to mice. Methods The conditions of chromatography: Kromasil C 18 column (250 mm ? 4.6 mm, 7 ?m) was used with a mobile phase of CH 3OH-H 2O ( 38∶ 62); flow rate was 0.5 mL/min; the detecting wavelength was 230 nm; external standard method was quantitative analysis method. Results Paeoniflorin was fully separated from the other components in plasma. The linear range was 5.0—250.0 ng/?L (r= 0.999 9 ), the lowest detectability was 1.49 ng/?L, the average recovery was higher than 90%. Conclusion This method specially provides an accurate and sensitive way in detecting the in vivo blood concentration of paeoniflorin in plasma.

Objective To establish a RP-HPLC method for the determination of the blood concentration of paeoniflorin which was produced by seven kinds of warming-inside drugs (WID) being used with the promoting-blood drugs (PBD) individually and to explore the mechanism of PBD and WID compound prescription.
